Kenneth Slaught is founder and president of Investec Real Estate Companies. Since 1983, he has expanded the firm into the largest real estate development and management business in Santa Barbara County, acquiring more than three million square feet of coastal California apartment, office, retail, and self-storage properties in the process. Currently employing forty people, the company manages more than $1 billion in assets, is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management, and has been a long-running member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
As the company’s president, Kenny Slaught had an instrumental role in growing the firm’s investment strategies and policies, determining its asset class allocations, and handling business decisions. Under his visionary leadership, the firm has procured lucrative opportunities in times of widely fluctuating financial markets, establishing Investec’s impeccable reputation in the property investment community.
A 1979 graduate of UCSB, Slaught holds a degree in business and economics, in addition to a certification from the California Contractors State License Board. He also obtained a California real estate broker’s license in 1979. Prior to forming Investec, Slaught was a founding partner in the MKS Companies, a real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm.
Slaught has held leadership positions in many of Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. He is a current board member of the UCSB Foundation and formerly served on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation. Additionally, he is a substantial donor to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and many local high schools.
