Hoover Dam was constructed between 1931 and 1936, during the Great Depression years, for a cost of $49 million. In the beginning, its name was Boulder Dam, and was renamed to Hoover Dam to showcase the support of President Herbert Hoover. The project is 221 meters high and 379 meters long, and can withstand more than 35.000 cubic kilometers, as per Kenny Slaught. The dam can give out 4.2 billion kWh2 in a year.
