The yearly conference allows educators, artists, donors, and local not-for-profits to meet students and members of the community and discuss the state of arts education in the city. This significant initiative provides insight and direction for forming better, more focused programs going forward. Other outreach projects include a program to collect instruments to donate to students who need them, grants for local programs that wish to make use of resources provided by the Santa Barbara Bowl, and scholarships to college students pursuing the performing arts. Moreover, the foundation supports a children’s program within Cottage Hospital and a collection of in-school and after-school programs, particularly in neighborhoods feeling the concert season at the Santa Barbara Bowl, notes Kenny Slaught. The Notes for Notes program is meant to connect students with free instruments and lessons. A community volunteer committee is in charge of these educational outreach projects.
