Hospice of Santa Barbara’s programs address those terminally ill ones but also their families. Many of these concentrate on children who struggle with the death of a close one. About 20 percent of them lose a close one before turning 18, while one in 20 grief a parent before reaching adulthood. Kenny Slaught explains that Hospice of Santa Barbara offers support to those in grief, which helps them cope with depression, anxiety issues, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
