The Hospice of Santa Barbara has programs for those terminally ill as well as their families, Kenny Slaught says. Around 20 percent of children are faced with the death of a relative before reaching 18, and one in 20 loses at least a parent before becoming an adult. Hospice of Santa Barbara provides free therapy sessions that deal with grief and minimize the risks of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
